During the closing period, you will be working with your mortgage lender to close the loan. Since you pre-qualified for the loan before starting your home search, you will be that much closer to the end. I'll gather the necessary property information your lender will need to close the loan.
It is also VERY important to secure homeowners insurance for any home you are purchasing. In fact, lenders will NOT loan you money for a house without first securing a homeowners policy binder. This means the day after you have a contract you start looking for a insurance company and you purchase a homeowners policy effective the date of closing. Insurance companies will usually not write a policy/issue a binder if there is a named storm in the tropics near Florida. If you wait and do not secure insurance and a named storm is in the tropics, you will not close...it is that simple. Your lender and the title company must know the name and contact info for your insurance broker or company. Start by calling the insurance company that has your automobile policy, ask friends or your future neighbors who they use, or check out the vendors section of my website.
